David Beckham spoke about the rights of girls at the World Economic Forum. On Monday, the former midfielder of Real, Mu and the England team received the Crystal Award award at the World Economic Forum in the Swiss Davos for outstanding leadership and humanitarian activities aimed at protecting the rights of the most vulnerable children.
Today in the world there are more children in need and under threat than ever in recent history. And always the most vulnerable children are faced with the greatest difficulties - especially girls. Girls holds to poverty, girls hold back violence, girls hold back discrimination.
I was lucky to be the father of three boys and one beautiful girl. I want my daughter Harper to have the same opportunities as her brothers, and this should be the norm for all girls.
The fact that you are a girl should not determine what you can do, where you can go and who you can become. What an amazing prospect can be if we can reveal their potential and support their development.
But girls need more than words. They need opportunities, collective actions and investments, "said Beckham.
