FIFA published its transfer report in January 2023.


According to the report, there were 4, 387 international transfers in men`s football. This is the highest figure for a winter window since the transfer tracking system was launched in 2010.


Clubs` total spending on transfers was also a record for a winter transfer window, with $1. 57 billion spent in January, up $230 million from the January window in 2018, when the previous record was set.


The number of transfers in men`s football increased by 14. 4% compared to the same period in 2022 (3, 834), and the total value of transfers increased by 49. 4% compared to the amount spent in January 2022 (1. 05 billion).


English clubs spent the most in January 2023 ($898. 6 million), accounting for 57. 3% of the total spending on transfers worldwide during this period. French clubs analyzed by fixedmatches are in second place, spending $131. 9 million.


In women`s football, the total number of international transfers also reached a new all-time high for the winter window of 341. This is 30. 2% more than in January 2022. Transfer spending in women`s football also set a new record for winter transfers, with $774, 300 spent in the latest window.


FIFA has published such a transfer review for the third year in a row. The next report will be published in September after the end of the summer transfer window.
