Charles Leclerc spoke about Ferrari`s weaknesses and problem solving.
The Scuderia has been criticized in 2022 for poor strategic decisions and poor reliability. Also, the lack of racing speed in comparison with the qualifying one, associated with high tire consumption, raises questions.
- At the beginning of the season, our car as a whole was better than Red Bull. Then the rivals moved forward, and for us it led to the difference between qualifications and races.
At the moment, I think we need to improve the work with tires, communication, strategy and reliability. We had to face the last problem in the first half of the season, and we managed to cope. I think we have made progress in terms of communication and strategy, especially in the last few races. The team did a great job, I see improvements.
As for the tire work, we still need to improve. Red Bull is stronger in this regard, especially in some conditions - for example, in Suzuka.
To summarize, we understand what is missing, and in some aspects we have already made progress.
- The team has always understood that it is necessary to work on it. In some races, we were surprised to lag behind - I think because of the specific conditions in which Red Bull performed better.
- Probably, all racers had to change their style of aerobatics to some extent, because the cars have become heavier. In the first months, I also had to adapt, understanding did not come immediately. Since my debut in Formula 1, I have always piloted cars of the same generation, and some things had to be changed.
In the pre-season tests, we did a great job and quickly understood what to focus on, what is required for piloting new cars. Already at the first stage, the feeling in the car was good - there was a feeling that I was able to get the most out of it. Personally, I like a stable front end, and the car gave just that, especially at the start of the season.
