Roman Grand Slam and eight-time Champion of Rome title winner Rafael Nadal qualified for the finals of the Masters Series tennis tournament in the Eternal City after battling Stefanos Tsitsipas with 6:3, 6:4. A red-court trophy match featuring Nadal this season, with either Novak Djokovic or Diego Schwartzman in contention.

Nadal already has 50 finals in the Masters series, sharing with Djokovic the first place honors by 33 each, and it will be interesting to question exactly who will occupy the top spot on this benchmark.

Last week in Madrid, Tsitsipas became the youngest tennis player to win Clay over Nadal, but this time, from the first game, Matador took full control of the events and did not allow any surprises. An hour and 43 minutes was needed for Nadal, who in his previous obstacles in the Eternal City was smashing his opponents Jeremy Chardy, Nicoloz Basilashvili and Fernando Verdasco.

Tsitsipas still protected himself from the pretzel, but allowed for an early break in the sets and subsequently failed to squeeze enough of the Glue King to reach the rebound. Some of Nadal`s plays were brilliant, and at key times when he had to defend break-points, he served in a very solid way, denying the opponent a chance to turn. From the very beginning of the match, he terrorized Tsitsipas` backhand, who made too many forehand mistakes.

Nadal still has no title in 2019 and will try to win it just before his big goal - Roland Garros. It was a record 71st Masters semifinal for Matador, which has 11 wins from 11 matches via football livescore at this stage in Rome, with eight titles.
